The Treaty of VersaillesThe Treaty of Versailles (1919) imposed harsh terms on Germany. It lost territory, had to pay reparations, and its military was severely restricted. This caused anger and resentment among Germans, paving the way for extremist parties to gain support.

The Weimar RepublicThe Weimar Republic was Germany's new democratic government formed after World War I. It faced challenges such as hyperinflation in 1923, political uprisings, and the Great Depression in 1929. Extremist parties like the Nazi Party gained support during these crises.

Rise of Hitler and the Nazi PartyAdolf Hitler and the Nazi Party gained popularity during the 1920s and 1930s. Their promises to restore Germany's greatness, coupled with economic and political instability, helped them rise to power. Hitler became Chancellor in 1933, and soon after, the Nazis established a dictatorship.
