Case study

St Mary's College, Hull

St Mary's College, Hull

A whole college on Revision Genie for 2 years: 479 students and 27 teachers set up on it, and 342 students already moved on to further or higher education.

This is the full story, told the only way we know how to tell it: with the numbers we can actually stand behind.

Before we start

No made-up numbers

Most case studies lead with figures nobody can check. Grade uplifts, hours saved, percentage improvements, a glowing quote from a name you cannot look up. We are not going to do that.

Everything on this page is something we can stand behind: who the school is, how long they have used the platform, how many people are set up on it, and how many of their students have finished their studies and moved on. Nothing else. When St Mary's give us a line to quote, it will appear here with a real name against it.

The story

Two years is the real review

Schools try tools all the time. A free pilot goes in, a champion teacher pushes it for a term, and by the summer it has quietly disappeared. A one term trial tells you very little about a platform, because almost anything survives a term.

St Mary's College in Hull started using Revision Genie 2 years ago, and they are still on it today. Not one enthusiastic department: 479 students and 27 teachers across the college are set up on the platform.

Staying is the only endorsement that costs the endorser something. Every new school year is a fresh chance to drop a tool that is not earning its place, and two Septembers in a row, St Mary's kept this one.

The platform

What being set up on it means

Every student and teacher account at the college comes with the full platform. Here is what that includes.

A genie for every subject

AI tutors aligned to GCSE, A-Level and BTEC courses across AQA, Edexcel and OCR, so help always speaks the language of the exam the student is actually sitting.

Lessons and quizzes on demand

Step-by-step interactive lessons and quizzes on any topic in the course, generated when the student needs them rather than when the timetable says so.

Exam questions and mock exams

A shared bank of exam-style questions, plus full mock exams and past papers students can sit online and get marked with examiner-style feedback.

Flashcards and study plans

Spaced-repetition flashcards and a personal daily study plan that walks each student through their courses one subtopic at a time.

Set work, marked for you

Teachers run classes, set quizzes, mocks and assignments, and let AI marking handle the first pass so feedback lands while the work is still fresh.

Insights on every class

A gradebook and class analytics that show which topics a class is struggling with, so intervention goes where the data points.

The number that matters

342 students, moved on

Over those two years, 342 of the college's students have finished their studies and moved on to further or higher education.

We will not claim their results. Those belong to the students who did the work and the teachers who taught them, and any platform that says otherwise is selling you something.

What we can say is that Revision Genie was part of the toolkit they revised with on the way: the lessons, the quizzes, the exam practice and the marking, there whenever they needed it. Being trusted with that role, at that scale, for two years, is the case study.
