Analysing StructureAnother part of AO2 is analysing structural techniques. These include how the writer organises ideas, uses paragraphing, changes focus, and creates contrasts. Think about how these choices help tell the story or convey meaning.

Evaluating TextsAO4 requires you to evaluate how effectively a writer presents their ideas. This involves making judgements about the text and supporting your views with evidence from the extract. Consider the writer's choices and whether they achieve their intended effect.

Writing in Paper 1The writing task in Section B tests AO5 and AO6. You'll need to write a descriptive or narrative piece that is imaginative, organised, and technically accurate. Use varied vocabulary, sentence structures, and punctuation to make your writing engaging and clear.
