Welcome!Today we'll learn about Memory. Memory is essential for storing and recalling information, and it plays a key role in how we think, learn, and interact with the world. Let's dive in and explore how it works step by step!
What is Memory?Memory is the process of retaining information so it can be used later. It involves three main stages: encoding (taking in information), storage (keeping the information), and retrieval (bringing the information back when needed). Memory helps us make sense of our experiences and allows us to learn and adapt.
Types of MemoryWe have different types of memory that help us store information:Short-Term Memory (STM): This holds information for a short period of time, usually up to 30 seconds. It has a limited capacity of about 7 items.Long-Term Memory (LTM): This stores information for a much longer time, potentially forever, and has a much larger capacity.
Which type of memory stores information for a long time?

What is Reconstructive Memory?Reconstructive Memory is a theory by Frederick Bartlett. It suggests that we don’t store memories exactly as they happened but recreate them using our schemas. Schemas are mental frameworks based on our past experiences, which influence how we remember events.
Reconstructive memory shows that we use our {{blank0}} to help us recall events. These are mental frameworks based on our {{blank1}}.

Multi-Store Model of MemoryThe Multi-Store Model by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968) explains how memory is processed. It involves three stages:Sensory Register: This holds information from our senses for a very short time, less than a second.Short-Term Memory (STM): Information we focus on moves into STM, where it’s held temporarily.Long-Term Memory (LTM): With rehearsal, information can be stored in LTM for long-term use.
Which process moves information from STM to LTM?
