What is Component 1?Component 1 focuses on Shakespeare and Poetry (1789–present). It is worth 40% of the final grade and includes two sections.
Component 1 SectionsSection A: Shakespeare - You will study one play, such as Macbeth or Romeo and Juliet. This section tests your understanding of plot, themes, characters, and language.Section B: Poetry (1789–present) - This includes the poems in the WJEC Eduqas Poetry Anthology. You'll analyse language, form, structure, and themes, and compare two poems.

What is Component 2?Component 2 covers Post-1914 Prose/Drama, 19th-century Prose, and Unseen Poetry. This component is worth 60% of the final grade and includes three sections.
Component 2 SectionsSection A: Post-1914 Prose/Drama - You will study one text, such as An Inspector Calls or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
