Population
The entire group of items or people that you want to study.
Sample
A smaller group selected from the population to represent it.
Random Sampling
A sampling method where every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected.
Systematic Sampling
A sampling method where you select items at regular intervals from an ordered list.
Stratified Sampling
A sampling method where the population is divided into groups (strata) and a proportional sample is taken from each group.
Bias in Sampling
Occurs when the sample does not fairly represent the population, leading to inaccurate results.
Advantages of Random Sampling
It is unbiased and gives every member of the population an equal chance of being selected.
Disadvantages of Random Sampling
It can be time-consuming and may require a complete list of the population.
Advantages of Stratified Sampling
It ensures all groups in the population are represented proportionally.
Disadvantages of Stratified Sampling
It can be complex and time-consuming to divide the population into strata.
