Place value
The value of a digit depending on its position in a number.
Units place
The position of a digit representing whole numbers from 0 to 9.
Tens place
The position of a digit representing multiples of 10.
Hundreds place
The position of a digit representing multiples of 100.
Decimal place value
The value of a digit to the right of the decimal point, such as tenths, hundredths, etc.
Rounding to the nearest 10
Adjusting a number to the closest multiple of 10 based on the units digit.
Rounding to the nearest whole number
Adjusting a decimal number to the closest integer.
Significant figures
The digits in a number that carry meaning, starting from the first non-zero digit.
Leading zeros
Zeros at the start of a number that do not affect its value.
Standard form and place value
A way of writing very large or small numbers using powers of 10, based on place value.
