Persuasive Writing
Writing intended to convince the audience to adopt a viewpoint or take action.
Audience
The intended reader or listener for the persuasive piece.
Purpose
The reason for writing, such as to argue, persuade, or inform.
Tone
The overall attitude conveyed through language choices, e.g., formal, passionate, or humorous.
Rhetorical Question
A question asked for effect, not requiring an answer, to engage the audience.
Emotive Language
Words or phrases designed to evoke an emotional response from the audience.
Anecdote
A short personal story used to illustrate a point and make the writing relatable.
Counterargument
Acknowledging opposing views and refuting them to strengthen your argument.
Rule of Three
Using three related ideas or examples for emphasis and memorability.
Direct Address
Speaking directly to the audience using 'you' to create a connection and engage them.
