Decimal place value
The position of a digit in a decimal number determines its value, e.g., tenths, hundredths, thousandths.
Comparing decimals
To compare decimals, align the decimal points and compare digits from left to right.
Aligning decimal points
When ordering decimals, write the numbers in a column with decimal points aligned.
Adding zeros to decimals
You can add zeros to the end of a decimal without changing its value, e.g., 0.5 = 0.50.
Ascending order
Arranging numbers from smallest to largest.
Descending order
Arranging numbers from largest to smallest.
Step 1 for ordering decimals
Align the decimal points of all numbers.
Step 2 for ordering decimals
Compare digits in each place value column, starting from the left.
Step 3 for ordering decimals
If digits are the same, move to the next column to the right until a difference is found.

Always check for trailing zeros and ensure all numbers have the same number of decimal places for easier comparison.
