Multiplying fractions: Step 1
Multiply the numerators of the fractions together to get the numerator of the answer.
Multiplying fractions: Step 2
Multiply the denominators of the fractions together to get the denominator of the answer.
Simplifying after multiplying fractions
Simplify the resulting fraction by dividing the numerator and denominator by their highest common factor (HCF).
Multiplying a fraction by a whole number
Write the whole number as a fraction with denominator 1, then multiply as usual.
Multiplying improper fractions
Convert improper fractions to their improper form if necessary, then multiply as usual.

Convert mixed numbers into improper fractions before multiplying.

Multiply the improper fractions and simplify the result if possible.

Any fraction multiplied by zero equals zero.
