Multiple
A number that can be divided by another number without leaving a remainder.
First multiple of a number
The number itself is always the first multiple.
Common multiple
A number that is a multiple of two or more numbers.
Lowest common multiple (LCM)
The smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers.
How to find multiples
Multiply the number by integers (e.g., 1, 2, 3, etc.).
Multiples of 3
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, etc.
Difference between factors and multiples
Factors divide into a number exactly, while multiples are the results of multiplying the number by integers.
LCM of 4 and 6
The LCM of 4 and 6 is 12.
Multiples of 10
10, 20, 30, 40, 50, etc.
Real-life example of multiples
If a bus arrives every 15 minutes, the times it arrives are multiples of 15 (e.g., 15, 30, 45, etc.).
