Mixed number
A number made up of a whole number and a proper fraction, e.g., 2 1/3.
Improper fraction
A fraction where the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator, e.g., 7/4.
Converting mixed number to improper fraction
Multiply the whole number by the denominator, add the numerator, and place the result over the original denominator.
Converting improper fraction to mixed number
Divide the numerator by the denominator to get the whole number. The remainder becomes the numerator of the fraction part.

Convert to improper fractions, find a common denominator, add the fractions, and simplify if needed.
