Foreshadowing
A literary device where hints or clues are given about events that will happen later in the text.
Purpose of foreshadowing
To create suspense, prepare the reader for future events, or add layers of meaning to the narrative.
Explicit foreshadowing
Hints or clues that are directly stated or clearly indicated in the text.
Implicit foreshadowing
Hints or clues that are subtle and require inference to understand their significance.
