The course covers musical language, performance, and composition across four areas of study: Western classical tradition 1650–1910, popular music, traditional music, and Western classical tradition since 1910.
Assessment includes a written exam on understanding music (40%), and two non-examined assessments: performing music (30%) and composing music (30%).
