Venn Diagram
A diagram that shows relationships between different sets using overlapping circles.
Universal Set (ξ)
The set that contains all possible elements in a particular context.
Intersection (A ∩ B)
The set of elements that are in both set A and set B.
Union (A ∪ B)
The set of elements that are in set A, set B, or both.
Complement (A')
The set of elements that are in the universal set but not in set A.
Disjoint Sets
Two sets that have no elements in common (their intersection is empty).
Subset
A set where all elements are also contained in another set.
Shading in Venn Diagrams
Used to represent specific regions of a Venn diagram based on set notation.
Number in a Region
The number of elements in a specific region of a Venn diagram, often represented by a number inside the region.
Two-Way Tables and Venn Diagrams
Two-way tables can be used to organise data that can also be represented in a Venn diagram.
