Parallel lines
Lines that are always the same distance apart and never meet, no matter how far they are extended.
Transversal
A line that crosses two or more other lines.
Corresponding angles
Angles in matching positions on parallel lines cut by a transversal. They are equal.
Alternate angles
Angles on opposite sides of the transversal but inside the parallel lines. They are equal.
Co-interior angles
Angles on the same side of the transversal and inside the parallel lines. They add up to 180°.
Vertically opposite angles
Angles opposite each other when two lines cross. They are always equal.
Supplementary angles
Two angles that add up to 180°.
Angle sum of a triangle
The sum of the angles in a triangle is always 180°.
Angle sum of a quadrilateral
The sum of the angles in a quadrilateral is always 360°.
Z-shape in parallel lines
The Z-shape formed by alternate angles when a transversal cuts parallel lines. These angles are equal.
