Wireless Access Point (WAP)
A device that allows wireless devices to connect to a wired network using Wi-Fi.
Router
A device that connects networks together and directs data packets between them.
Switch
A device that connects devices within a LAN and uses MAC addresses to forward data to the correct device.
Network Interface Card (NIC)
A hardware component that allows a device to connect to a network, either wired or wireless.
Transmission Media
The physical or wireless means used to transfer data between devices, e.g., Ethernet cables or Wi-Fi signals.
LAN
A Local Area Network that connects computers within a small geographical area, such as a home or office.
WAN
A Wide Area Network that connects computers over a large geographical area, often using routers and leased lines.
Ethernet
A wired transmission medium commonly used in LANs for reliable and fast data transfer.
Wi-Fi
A wireless transmission medium used to connect devices to a network without physical cables.
Bluetooth
A short-range wireless transmission medium used for connecting devices like keyboards or headphones to a computer.
