Function
A relationship where each input has exactly one output.
Function notation
Written as f(x), where f is the function and x is the input.
Domain of a function
The set of all possible input values (x-values) for the function.
Range of a function
The set of all possible output values (y-values) for the function.
f(x) = x^2
A quadratic function where the output is the square of the input.
Inverse function
A function that reverses the effect of the original function, written as f⁻¹(x).
Composite function
A function made by combining two functions, written as f(g(x)).
Linear function
A function of the form f(x) = mx + c, where m is the gradient and c is the y-intercept.
Quadratic function
A function of the form f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c, where a, b, and c are constants.
Vertical line test
A test to determine if a graph represents a function. If a vertical line crosses the graph more than once, it is not a function.
