Angles in the same segment
Angles subtended by the same arc at the circumference of a circle are equal.
Subtended angle
An angle formed at a point on the circumference by two lines drawn from the ends of the same arc.
Arc
A part of the circumference of a circle.
Key property of angles in the same segment
Angles subtended by the same arc on the circumference are always equal.
Cyclic quadrilateral
A quadrilateral where all four vertices lie on the circumference of a circle.
Angles in a cyclic quadrilateral
Opposite angles in a cyclic quadrilateral add up to 180°.
Proof of angles in the same segment
This property is derived from the fact that the angle at the centre is twice the angle at the circumference.
Angle at the centre vs angle at the circumference
The angle subtended at the centre of a circle is twice the angle subtended at the circumference by the same arc.
Chord
A straight line joining two points on the circumference of a circle.
Practical use of angles in the same segment
This property is used to solve problems involving circle theorems and to find missing angles in diagrams.
