Angle in a semicircle
The angle subtended by a diameter at the circumference of a circle is always 90° (a right angle).
Diameter of a circle
A straight line passing through the centre of the circle, connecting two points on the circumference.
Subtended angle
An angle formed at a point on the circumference by two lines drawn from the ends of a chord or diameter.
Right angle in a semicircle
The angle formed at the circumference by a diameter is always a right angle (90°).
Centre of a circle
The point equidistant from all points on the circumference of the circle.
Chord
A straight line joining two points on the circumference of a circle.
Cyclic quadrilateral
A quadrilateral where all four vertices lie on the circumference of a circle.
Opposite angles in a cyclic quadrilateral
The opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral add up to 180°.
Tangent to a circle
A straight line that touches the circle at exactly one point.
Angle at the centre vs angle at the circumference
The angle subtended at the centre of a circle is twice the angle subtended at the circumference by the same arc.
